In July 2022 I was asked to visit Chemnitz, a city in Germany that will become the European Capital of Culture in 2025, to take part in their new Makers United event. This was very similar to a Maker Faire, of which I had taken part in the UK on various occasions. I talked to visitors about my work and displayed some small pieces and skills.
The restrictions of travelling to the event created interesting new possibilities. I designed a new interactive way for visitors to experience some of my process, that of colouring using light, by allowing them the freedom to add pre-cut shaped pieces to a panel over a light box.
The end result was two communally created artworks that we left behind to be used by the city of Chemnitz Capital of Culture team. Hundreds of participants added to the work.
